Peach Packing Time

in

Middle Georgia

On Thursday, May 19th This Former Iowa Tractor Boy took two Grand Children to the Lane Peach Packing operation here in Middle Georgia.

The family owned business of "Lane Packing" has a full service cafe with peach cobbler and fresh ice cream for desert. In addition to viewing the packing operation they also have a Children's Play area for young visitors to enjoy.

Admittedly this young girl is not an Iowa Tractor Boy. She did enjoy the opportunity to operate the parked John Deere Model B Tractor which was part of the play area.

Life In Iowa - February 2011
A Busy Time for Tractor Boys

This picture is posted here to provide a reference point. It was taken in July and clearly shows no snow.

As you can quickly ascertain from this picture, there is plenty of snow in Clayton County Iowa. Please be aware that this is not a staged snow event. This is how it looked during the first few days of February 2011.

Remember the first picture of this post. It was taken from the same vantage point as this one, only slightly higher. On February 1, 2011, when this picture was taken you could not see the nearby farm.
As a former Iowa Tractor Boy in my Youth I cannot recall as much Snow as this area of Northeast Iowa is experiencing this the Winter of 2011.

The Formulation of a Tractor Boy
This Young Tractor Boy lives near Dublin, Georgia. As you can ascertain Green is one of his favorite colors. He is two years and two days old when this picture was taken during a visit to his Great Grandparents home in Macon, Georgia.

He is also a wonderful Sibling. Here he gives his older Sibling Sister a ride on his John Deere Four Wheeler.

Iowa Tractor Boy Dream Machine

As I start 2011 it is my goal to have more interesting pictures in this Blog. Here is a nice looking Tractor. Of course you need a fairly large farm operation to justify this size Tractor, but everyone is entitled to dream a bit, especially on the first day of 2011.

2010 Snow Storm
Clayton County Iowa

When ever I receive pictures such as this I quickly recall why I choose to live in Middle Georgia upon my retirement from the U. S. Navy way back in 1981.
As a former Iowa Tractor Boy I have fond memories of cutting wood each Winter for future Winters. I can also recall walking to the one room country school on the corner of my Parents Farm on what is now known as Kale Avenue. I know it sounds good, but it was only up hill to the school in the morning.
